BIO: Robert M. Hume, Data Analysis Partner in OMED: Educational Services at the Georgia Institute of Technology, received a BS Physics from Adelphi University; a MSEE from Syracuse University; and a MBA from Binghamton University. Mr. Hume culminated his 28 year IBM engineering/management professional career as an IBM Executive on Loan to the Georgia Institute of Technology for one year. He subsequently exercised an IBM retirement opportunity to join the OMED staff. Mr. Hume has performed institutional research of the under represented students for 14 years. Mr. Hume has the unique opportunity of bringing his years of disciplined engineering product development and program management experience to the Georgia Tech, source of exceptional engineering talent. It has been his goal since returning to academia to participate in initiatives to understand the sources of attrition of gifted students and under represented minority students in particular. Mr. Hume does adjunct instruction in the School of Physics as part of a joint OMED interaction. He has worked extensively with Physics professors to characterize students at risk. The collaborative efforts of the Physics and Psychology Departments with OMED have resulted in four formal publications. OMED: Educational Services is an information driven academic unit chartered with the retention and academic performance of the under represented student at Georgia Tech. Mr. Hume is responsible for the development and integrity of the robust minority data cohort. Mr. Hume is an active member of the Association for Institutional Research (AIR) and maintains his 40 year membership in the IEEE. He has three grown children and five grandchildren.
