2007 Challenge Counselors *NEW*
IMPORTANT INFO:
Challenge Dates: June 23rd - July 27th
Challenge is OMED's signature bridge program. It is a five-week, intensive program that is held every summer for incoming Georgia Tech freshman. In Challenge, students will be immersed in the Georgia Tech environment; they will live in a freshman dorm, take classes provided by Georgia Tech professors, and participate in social and academic workshops provided by upper-class Tech students.
PURPOSE
The purpose of Challenge is to introduce incoming freshman to Georgia Tech and provide them with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed during their first academic year.
INCENTIVES
During Challenge there are constant give-a-ways, awards, and various opportunities to win prizes. Those are among the many incentives that the program offers, but perhaps the greatest incentive is the opportunity for EACH student to receive FULL or partial refunds of their Challenge fees. Quite simply, if a student receives a 3.0 or higher GPA in the Challenge courses, he/she will receive a cash refund of:
GPA of 3.00 - 3.49 = $150 Refund
GPA of 3.50 - 3.99 = $350 Refund
GPA of 4.00 ------ = $500 Refund
Students will be given every opportunity to receive a GPA of 3.0 or better.
ACTIVITIES
A goal of CHALLENGE is to provide incoming freshman with a realistic view of the collegiate environment at Georgia Tech. The Challenge Program is designed to ensure the first term and first year academic success. Our retention model proves that there is a correlation between first term performance and a student's chances at graduating from Georgia Tech.
